Double Decker Root Bridge @ Nongriat

Krang Shuri Waterfalls @ Amlarem

The Land of Three Tribes, Meghalaya is a beautiful plateau lodged between Assam and Bangladesh. Our Tour will focus on a part of Jaintia Hills and Major portion of Khasi Hills. Many of us would know Meghalaya as the haven for waterfalls but it also has innumerable cave systems across the state. We will be exploring a pinch of all aspects of what makes Meghalaya the most beautiful state in North East.

DAY WISE ITINERARY

Day 1: Guwahati to Shillong (90 kms)

  • Arrive Guwahati (Flight/Train). Rental Bike Check.

  • Ride to Shillong via Umiam Lake. Visit Elephant Falls.

(This day is a short ride day. We will reach Shillong by 6pm. Depending upon the time & COVID protocol, Police Bazaar visit is possible on this day)

Day 2: Shillong to Dawki (120 kms)

  • Via Krang Shuri falls and Tamabil (Indo-Bangladesh Border).

  • Stay at Shnongpdeng Campsite.

(The route taken on this day will either be through Jowai or through Pynursla. We will take a swim in Krang Shuri (for sure!) in the afternoon and then head towards the campsite)

Day 3: Shnonpdeng to Laitryngew (80 kms)

  • Dawki river cruise in the morning. (Umngot River is the river that one can see (on Instagram pics) as the clearest river in Meghalaya)
  • Ride to Riwai after Breakfast. Riwai Root Bridge (in Mawlynnong Area).
  • Along the Bangladesh Border!
  • Stay at Laitryngew
Day 4: The Trek Day

  • Ride to the Tyrna Village for the Start of the Double Decker Root Bridge Trek.

  • Trek to Single Decker and Double Decker Root Bridges (6-7 hours)

  • Nohakalikai View Point on the way. Optional: Water Lagoon.

  • Stay at Laitryngew.

Day 5: Around Sohra (Cherapunjee)

  • There are innumerable places to see around Sohra.

  • Arwah Caves, Wei Sawdong Falls, Nohkalikai, Garden of Caves, Lyngksiar Falls and the list goes on… We will try to see as many places as possible today.

  • Stay at Laitryngew

Day 6: Laitryngew to Guwahati (140 kms)

  • Via Umiam Lake. We ride back to Guwahati today. ETA: 4pm.

  • A quick stopover near the CRPF Headquarters to buy the best camouflage items as a souvenir. Commando Jacket, Caps, Tees, Shoes, you name it.

Day 7: Fly out

  • If you plan to fly out in the evening, you can visit Pobitora National Park in the Morning.

  • POBIROTA: Approx 2 hours from Guwahati, Pobitora NP has the highest concentration of Rhinos in India. So, you will see definitely 10-15 rhinos in your safari. (This is not included in the cost)
